Fortune Cup Horse Racing Strategy

The Racing TV cameras will be at Kempton Park on Wednesday and top tipster Dave Nevison has three selections.

5.45 Kempton: Moohareeba

It is hardly surprising that John Gosden is using his crack apprentice to take 7lb off this filly, who is set to carry 10st 4lb.

Benoit de la Sayette is no doubt the most talked about apprentice in the weighing room and looks an exceptional talent, who I am sure will be used in much bigger handicaps than this during the summer.

Moohareeba has run into two strong talents of Roger Varian’s on her latest starts and despite the weight has an easier task here. She is extremely well bred and a win is an imperative.

The step up slightly in trip looks sure to suit to judge by her pedigree.

6.20 Kempton: Capriolette

It is a while since this filly won, but she is back on the mark she won off and in a very tight handicap her turn might have arrived.

Last time out she was well beaten by a back-to-form Gavi De Gavi but that race went well for the winner and Capriolette endured a poor run through and should have been closer.

The cheekpieces equipped last time are persevered with and they certainly weren’t a negative and hopefully might improve her further this time.A good pace would be ideal but her trainer is in excellent form and a decent run looks assured.

8.20 Kempton: Cinzento

At this basement level a winning attitude is often the deciding factor and I was seriously impressed with Cinzento’s battling qualities when I saw him at Chelmsford recently.

The race was fought out by three co-favourites and, after being headed, Cinzento fought back to win well.

He has won two out of his four recent starts - both 0-50 Classified events – and, although in a handicap here and off a 3lb higher mark, he is in good form and I believe will be suited by the slight step up in trip.
